Dans une réponse farouche aux modes musicales modernes, l’auteur-compositeur et interprète post-grunge Gordon Rivers a formé Agony Soul Trader (AST) en 2010 après avoir écrit une série de morceaux reflétant ses valeurs et convictions musicales.
En janvier 2011 Rivers enregistra PRECURSOR, une démo trois titres sans fioritures pour présenter son travail avec AGONY SOUL TRADER.
PRECURSOR, diffusé sur Internet, reçu un excellent accueil de la part de nombreux sites consacrés à la musique dont “The Mag”, qui déclara :
“Ces chansons pourraient éjecter vos haut-parleurs de leur étagère.”
Trois mois après avoir enregistré Precursor, en avril 2011, Agony Soul Trader signa sur Chabane’s Records, un label dont Gordon Rivers pensait qu'il avait l’intrégrité requise pour accueillir AGONY SOUL TRADER et soutenir son évolution future. Ceci aboutit en juin de la même année à la sortie du premier EP officiel.
La seconde moitié de l'année 2011 vit Rivers faire plusieurs apparitions live, portant avec succès sa musique vers la scène.
Ainsi, en février 2012, AST joua en première partie de Chris Helme (des SEAHORSES) et rentrer en studo pour donner le jour à son second EP Busy Little Creature, sorti en mars de la même année sur Chabane's Records.
Sans donner le moindre signe d'essoufflement, bien au contraire, Agony Soul Trader apporte la preuve que le grunge est non seulement vivant, mais en pleine forme !

Making a defiant
stand against today’s music trends by writing and performing music
without compromise, UK post grunge singer/songwriter Gordon Rivers formed Agony Soul Trader (AST) back in 2010 after writing a collection of songs that he felt reflected his musical values.
In January 2011 Rivers recorded Precursor, a three track no frills demo to showcase his work as Agony Soul Trader.
Once unleashed over the internet Precursor met the approval of various music websites including ‘The Mag’ who stated that:
“These songs could rock your speakers off the shelf.”
Just three months after recording Precursor, in April 2011 Agony Soul Trader was signed to Chabane's Records, a label that Rivers felt had the right attitude and integrity and who could provide the perfect home for his music to evolve, this signing led to Chabane's Records releasing Agony Soul Trader’s first official self titled EP in June 2011.
The second half of 2011 saw Rivers successfully make the transition from the studio to the stage by making various well received live appearances.
February 2012 saw Rivers open for Chris Helme of the Seahorses and record Agony Soul Traders second EP 'Busy Little Creature' which was released through Chabane's Records in March 2012.
With no sign of stopping and relentless to the end, Agony Soul Trader is evidence that grunge is very much alive and well.
